Monthly Archives: April 2009

Here are a few portraits I’ve done and scanned in. The top is Apolo Ohno (blurry pic ; ; ) oil painting, Shani Davis – oil painting, Adam Lambert – charcoal, Allison Iraheta – charcoal. Bottom is Kris Allen – charcoal. More coming ;-).

Oil paintings I was able to take pictures of, most I’ve given away.

This is my first post and first attempt at blogging so we’ll see how it goes! It’s late here in NY and I just finished cleaning up my mess of paintbrushes and towels. I’ve managed to keep myself relatively clean tonight. Usually, I have to check myself thoroughly to see where the paint ended up :x.  So far, so good ;-).

I consider myself to be higly expressive. Most of the time I’m creating something or thinking about something I’d like to create. Painting, drawing, singing, writing, or reading are a few of my favorites. I’m willing to take on most any challenge artistically just to prove that I can, hehe. Believe me, I ‘m always looking for ways to burn off energy!

I come from a family of musicians. My father was in a band for years, he sang like a champ and played the guitar. I used to sing with my dad when I was younger and people would give me tips. My parents always laughed when I would try to give the tips to my dad because I felt that I was stealing his thunder (and money). Of course, he was getting paid. It was his gig, I was just the sideshow!

My brother is also a musician. He writes his own music, much on the electronica lines. He went through many phases with his band from death metal to industrial to synth-pop. I tried singing with him during his death metal phase but that just wasn’t my bag, hehe. My brother doesn’t do much with it lately. He was married recently and has a one year old daughter.

A friend of our family who was once in my brother’s band has recently started up a band again. Perhaps I will be singing again soon ;-).

So, somewhere down the road, after I received a degree in Photography and took pictures for a magazine of national acts, I decided I needed to go to school for something stable. Yes, me of all people… became…. a teacher! Ha! Who would’ve thought? It’s like having 24 children for 10 months a year…crazy. I’ve never stopped being creative but teaching did put a slight damper on my passion.

Lately, I’ve been inspired to pursue my art again, whatever it may be. In fact, I’m contemplating a move to L.A. in the near future. I’m on an emotional roller-coaster lately because I can’t figure out how I’m going to make that happen by myself without being eaten alive. A few years ago, I spent some time in San Jose and really enjoyed the weather. I wouldn’t miss the snow here at all! I’m up for meeting new people and an adventure. I just don’t know anyone out there, hehe. I’ve sent in my application to the school system in L.A. and need to send in some important documents upon request. We shall see, we shall see…. @.@.

I’ll post some of my art on here. Maybe some one reading this can give me some pointers…. or constructive criticism… or tell me an idea of how I can channel this energy into something that works. Or, maybe you have some guidance to give about L.A.! 😉

Thanks for reading, art will be forthcoming. Have a great day! 😉
